The law: Information on the Colorado law and mothers’ legal right to breastfeed their babies.
The Coalition completed a series of four YouTube videos designed to motivate, educate and inspire moms to keep breastfeeding after returning to work. The coalition harnessed the power and reach of social media to share information with new mothers. Each video brings together clips of real moms telling their stories about how and why they continued breastfeeding after going back to work, the obstacles they encountered, the strategies that helped them succeed, and the outcomes they enjoyed -- from health to bonding -- and how their employers benefited too.
A mom’s perspective: True stories about breastfeeding and returning to work.
An employer’s perspective: Experiences in accommodating breastfeeding employees.
Colorado Supports Breastfeeding Project has the mission to educate local communities regarding the laws that protect and promote breastfeeding in Colorado.
The project has two areas of impact: local communities through posters and flyers distributed in strategic locations, and statewide though social media.
We need your help and participation helping us identify those places and sharing the materials with them.
Anybody can participate!!
We have developed thefollowing materials:
- Breastfeeding in public poster.
- Breastfeeding Laws flyer, which contains information on the Accommodation’s for Nursing Mothers Act and Breastfeeding in Public Act.
These materials are to be distributed libraries, recreational centers, churches, doctor’s offices, schools, etc. to be used by staff and visitors as a reference when facing questions about breastfeeding in public and accommodations for breast
feeding mothers. The flyer has space for you to add local resources that you consider relevant.
In addition to this and as an option, you can chose to receive a paper Colorado Breastfeeding Plate and we would like to ask you to take a picture (or more) of mothers, babies or yourself with this plate in a location that is characteristic of your town. It doesn’t have to be a breastfeeding picture, we want to show that all Colorado supports breastfeeding! Then email the picture to us so we can make it into a meme for Facebook posts or posters for later use (photo releases will be included as well).
Here is how to participate:

The coalition works closely with the Colorado Department of Public Health and Environment Special Supplemental Nutrition Program for Women, Infants, and Children to reach communities which have historically had low breastfeeding rates.
To ensure optimal health and development of all Colorado families by fostering a society-wide approach to breastfeeding.
